About The Shot
The Bahamas/ 2024
"Whenever I photograph people underwater, I always strive to capture my models in natural, unscripted movements without giving much direction. These candid moments often lead to organic compositions that feel more relatable and authentic. In this particular photo, we were entering a secluded limestone underwater cave in the Bahamas. The primary challenge here lies in the cave’s floor, a delicate mixture of fine soil and bat guano that stirs up with the slightest touch. With no current to clear the water, a single misstep can send up a cloud of dust, obscuring visibility for up to 30 minutes. To avoid disturbing the sediment, we opted not to wear fins, which also allowed for a more controlled dive entry—one that minimizes disruption to the sediment below."
