About The Shot
Long Island, Bahamas/ 2024
"Capturing this photograph required precise timing and perspective, as a thin line separating the top from the bottom can quickly shift to become the left and right. The model descended to a depth where she achieved neutral buoyancy and performed several backbend splits in mid-water. To maintain the correct depth and alignment, she exhaled air from her lungs to control her buoyancy. I had to adjust my position and depth similarly, carefully framing the shot to align her legs with the horizon. Every small change in my depth was made while anticipating her movements, creating a seamless collaboration akin to an underwater dance. This photo captures the graceful synchronization between model and photographer, resulting in a perfectly balanced composition."
