About The Shot
Bimini, Bahamas/ 2018
In the warm, shallow waters of Bimini, Bahamas, a small family of Nurse Sharks peacefully rests on the powdery, white sandy ocean floor, approximately 33 feet (10 meters) beneath the surface. Freediving, which involves exploring underwater on a single breath, offers a unique advantage as it allows humans to approach marine wildlife without the disruption of noisy scuba bubbles. Each opportunity to share the underwater realm with sharks and to become a part of their world is an extraordinary adventure. It's the ocean's way of welcoming us into its domain, demonstrating through experience, rather than words, that we can coexist in a harmonious and mutually beneficial relationship. Here, the nurse sharks lie undisturbed as a freediver observes their serene movements, synchronized with the gentle ocean current.
