About The Shot
New Providence, Bahamas/ 2024
"There’s a small reef in New Providence, Bahamas, that I like to call 'Little Patch of Heaven.' It’s home to a large school of French Grunts, and I often return to photograph and film these beautiful fish. Known for their vibrant yellow stripes on silvery bodies, French Grunts get their name from the ‘grunting’ sound they make by grinding their teeth—audible to other fish but silent to us underwater. They gather in tightly synchronized schools, a strategy that helps protect them from predators by creating confusion. Swimming together, they become harder to single out, relying on the power of their unity."
