About The Shot
Eleuthera, Bahamas/ 2024
"I think Green Turtles have the most personality in their expressions out of all the turtle species. Whether they’re eating or peeking at me before swimming away, their faces seem very expressive. In a shallow bay area in Eleuthera, a large population of Green Turtles lives in the seagrass bed and nearby mangrove pond. This area provides a haven from predators like tiger sharks and offers a vast food supply, including seagrass and smaller animals. This Green Turtle swam up to me to see if I had any food and quickly turned away when it realized I was empty-handed. In the Bahamas, where turtles are a protected species, we have a healthy population that helps maintain the marine ecosystem by managing seagrass growth."
