The Red Cushion Sea Star, often referred to as a starfish, is one of the most beautifully patterned creatures in the Bahamas. Each starfish has a unique variation of red-toned colors. Some have red bodies with more orange or yellow ridges, others are more brown and red, and some are simply all red. The starfish's mouth and feet are on the underside of their bodies, meaning the part we usually see is their back. Unfortunately, starfish often die due to human negligence when taken out of the water, as this can cause suffocation and stress. Research has shown that starfish can survive for only 3-5 minutes out of the water before dying, and they can also die from stress. Therefore, it's best not to touch starfish at all.
