About The Shot
The Bahamas/ 2026
I often describe oceanic whitetip sharks as a hybrid of different shark species. They have the curiosity of a tiger shark, the speed of a reef shark, and the boldness of a bull shark. They’re perfectly designed for open ocean life, with oversized fins that almost look too big for their bodies, and strong countershading that helps them blend seamlessly into the blue. I find them incredibly engaging to photograph because of their curious and bold nature, but that same behavior means you have to stay fully aware to make sure they don’t mistake you for food.
