About The Shot
Cat Island, Bahamas/ 2018
The Oceanic Whitetip Shark is known to be one of the top pelagic predators in the deep ocean waters. These sharks have extra-large, rounded pectoral fins with distinctive white tips on their dorsal, pectoral, and tail fins. These large fins help them glide and conserve energy when swimming, as they often travel long distances in waters hundreds of feet deep. Known for their curious and bold nature, this particular shark in the photograph kept its distance from me. The small fish accompanying the shark is called a Pilot Fish, often seen traveling with these sharks to eat food scraps from their meals.
