About The Shot
New Providence, Bahamas/ 2023
The Red Lionfish, a significant invasive predator in the Bahamas, possesses a robust defense mechanism. Thirteen long venomous spines adorn its dorsal fin, positioned atop the fish, while each pelvic fin features two short venomous spines on either side of the fish's underside near the head. Additionally, three venomous spines line the front edge of the anal fin, located on the fish's underside near the tail. Encountering any of these spines can result in excruciating pain, serving as a clear warning to potential predators to avoid confronting the lionfish.
