About The Shot
New Providence, Bahamas/ 2023
Experience the beauty of the underwater world with this Limited Edition print from André Musgrove. In Nassau, there's a pristine coral reef location I affectionately refer to as "Little Patch of Heaven." Its exact whereabouts must remain undisclosed to protect its beauty. On this particular day, the sea was like glass, perfectly calm with no hint of wind. The sheer magnificence of this coral reef inspired the concept for the photo I envisioned. For this shot, I collaborated with a Bahamian freediver and Coral Farmer, who has devoted her life to safeguarding the coral reefs of The Bahamas. Sadly, many of these reefs have suffered severe damage due to reckless boating practices, hurricanes, direct human influence, and the rapid spread of coral diseases like Stony Coral Tissue Loss Disease, which is currently devastating the Caribbean. It's crucial to showcase the remaining underwater beauty and emphasize why we must protect it. Imagine having more of these pristine coral reefs throughout The Bahamas, the Caribbean, and worldwide, all shielded from the detrimental impact of human activities. Envision the flourishing marine life and coral populations that could thrive, providing sustainable benefits for us humans. Regrettably, finding coral reefs like this in Nassau, Bahamas, has become increasingly challenging as many have already succumbed to destruction. However, with voluntary efforts to protect these existing sanctuaries, we can work together to reverse the damage and secure a brighter future for all.
