About The Shot
Grand Bahama, Bahamas/ 2019
Experience the beauty of the underwater world with this Limited Edition print from André Musgrove. In this poignant image, a Bahamian woman finds herself encircled by the remnants of a once-vibrant coral reef, specifically the Staghorn Coral. The scene encapsulates our entanglement within the consequences of our actions, a poignant testament to the dire outcomes of inadequate climate change practices. My intention in capturing this image was to draw attention to the critical issue of coral reef degradation, stemming from a combination of natural and human factors. The surge in climate change has rendered nations like The Bahamas increasingly vulnerable to the intensified hurricanes that have inflicted profound damage upon Bahamian islands, including Grand Bahama and the Abacos. An illustrative example of this devastation is the catastrophic impact of Hurricane Dorian in 2019.
