About The Shot
Long Island, Bahamas/ 2023
William Trubridge, is the world record holder for unassisted freediving to a depth of 102m (334 ft), and I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with him on several captivating projects. In 2021, I captured reference images of Dean’s Blue Hole, which I intended to use as a foundation for creative concepts featuring a freediver without fins. Given that both William and I call The Bahamas our home, and he is renowned as the world's foremost freediver without fins, it seemed only natural to embark on these creative endeavors together. I wanted to create an image that looked as if the edge of the blue hole was a line that could be run, similar to a crosswalk on a street. William would swim down to get into position as I remained at the surface, photographing downward. He would then assert the position of a tuning position and hold the pose in place, as I’m able to capture the proper angle from above. It has been a privilege to collaborate on a range of photography and video projects in recent times. Notably, William Trubridge, the founder of the world's most prestigious freediving event, Vertical Blue, which takes place at Dean’s Blue Hole on Long Island, Bahamas, has provided me with the unique opportunity to document his remarkable dives through both photography and film over the years.
