About The Shot
New Providence, Bahamas/ 2018
"Although this location wasn't our initial choice, circumstances involving unfavorable weather and time constraints left us with no alternative to late afternoon. Earlier in the day, the freediver and I had wrapped up shooting two other shipwreck photo concepts ahead of schedule. With a significant amount of daylight remaining, we decided to explore a familiar spot I frequented during my childhood spearfishing days—a location known for its caves and swim throughs. To our astonishment, upon our arrival, we were greeted by a magnificent spectacle: a massive school of Silverside Fish had taken residence in most of the caves. The task of orchestrating the synchronized movement of over a million fish initially seemed daunting. However, I held the conviction that once we commenced shooting, the elements would harmoniously align. It's challenging to convey the profound sense of tranquility that enveloped us as we observed these small fish gracefully swimming in perfect unison all around us beneath the water's surface."
