About The Shot
Long Island, Bahamas/ 2023
"At Dean’s Blue Hole, I always had the thought that it looked as though divers were being drawn into the darkness of the hole, almost as if they were being abducted by a science fiction spacecraft. I was curious to see how it would be possible to depict this sensation as if a person were being abducted by the light beam of a UFO. One day, while exploring the blue hole, searching for new angles and ideas, I realized the conditions I would need to bring this idea to life. I needed to time the shoot for low tide to ensure the best underwater visibility, allowing us to see the entire rim of the hole. It was also crucial for the shoot to take place in the morning hours so that the sunlight wouldn't penetrate the water too intensely and overexpose the image due to the sand reflecting the light."
