About The Shot
Menorca, Spain / 2024
"I saved a photo of this place on my phone back in 2017, marking it as somewhere I’d love to shoot underwater one day, though I never knew exactly where it was. By chance, during a trip to Menorca, a friend mentioned some cube-shaped Dolos (boulders) near the harbor that might be interesting to see underwater. These man-made interlocking concrete blocks designed to protect coastal structures, such as breakwaters, harbors, and seawalls, from the erosive force of waves and currents. We climbed down a steep cliff with all our freediving gear and my underwater camera gear, to enter the water. Swimming through a school of jellyfish and pieces of trash that got pushed into the small cove like entry point. Six years after first seeing a photo of this place, I finally got to experience it though I’d almost forgotten it was on my list."
